Mike Tomlin of the Steelers Provides an Informative Response About Injured Players, Including TJ Watt.

NFL icon JJ Watt makes controversial claim about Steelers star brother TJ Watt which leaves fans confused | The US Sun

Mike Tomlin, the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, spoke to the media during his last press conference of the 2023 campaign. He delivered updates on various injuries and addressed a variety of topics, including his intention to return as head coach for the upcoming campaign. The injuries that he mentioned happened either before or during the Wild Card game against the Buffalo Bills. Superstar edge rusher TJ Watt’s injury from Week 18 was one of the most significant ailments he treated.

When the Steelers met the Baltimore Ravens in their final game, Watt was injured. He sprained his MCL in Grade 2. That made it physically impossible for Watt to perform his job, according to a former NFL doctor. A defensive player needs to be very quick to cut and turn when working the edge. Watt has made numerous adjustments at maximum speed, planted his foot, and made tackles or sacks.

Watt was never going to be able to play against Buffalo, that much was clear early on. However, Steelers supporters believed that Watt would become available if the team proceeded to the Divisional Round, given his superhuman healing abilities. They lost a game that seemed much closer than the score indicated, however, because they failed to do it.

It goes without saying that we need to take care of those who are ill as quickly as possible. We don’t support injuries that continue into the offseason. I don’t have that list, but I believe we have a couple surgeries planned. Nothing serious, just some minor procedures. TJ’s recovery is doing nicely. If we had played this week, he probably would have been available. Joey Porter Jr. and Allen Robinson are two of the individuals from the previous performance who are currently in the concussion protocol. That seems like it’s reaching its end. Tomlin said, “We have some men on IR who have been on IR, and their recovery processes are working as intended.

Watt recently declared to the media that Tomlin is the only coach he would like to play for. It seems sense that the Steelers and Tomlin would stop at nothing to keep Watt in Pittsburgh.

Steelers’ TJ Watt Might Be The Best Defensive Player In The World

When Watt is sidelined, the Steelers have a history of losing. After sustaining a pectoral injury at the start of the 2022 season, Pittsburgh had trouble. In 2023, he returned with a bang, looking and feeling better than before. He rose to prominence once more as a front-runner for the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award, although the media frequently disparages him in favor of stars like Myles Garrett.
With 19 sacks, Watt was the league leader. With four forced fumbles, he is tied for fourth place. In addition to eight pass deflections, 36 quarterback hits, one interception, one score, and 48 solo tackles, he also had 19 for a loss. He received his sixth Pro Bowl selection and his fourth consecutive five-year term as the Steelers Team MVP. Not to add that he was awarded an All-Pro once more. It is difficult to see how he would not be given significant consideration. Nonetheless, Watt was chosen by ESPN’s Bill Barnwell to receive their rendition of the Defensive Player of the Year Award.
Prior to the 2022 season, Watt agreed to a new contract with the Steelers. There were $80 million in guaranteed funds in the $112 million contract. It will be 2026 before he becomes an unrestricted free agent. Watt’s contract extension with the Steelers for the upcoming few seasons is a huge blessing. With any luck, they can assemble the offensive components on the opposing side of the ball to assist him in raising the Lombardi Trophy.
