Panthers dismiss executive Samir Suleiman, reportedly targeting replacement from Kansas City Chiefs

Suleiman held the roles of wage cap manager and director of player negotiations; Carolina will search elsewhere for a replacement. Owner David Tepper has Brandt Tilis at the top of his list for a front office role in the Panthers, according to Joe Person of The Athletic. Tilis is the vice president of football operations for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Dan Morgan was elevated to general manager on Monday, slightly changing the front office of Carolina. For the previous three seasons, Morgan, 45, held the position of assistant general manager. Now, he finds himself in charge of making all front office decisions for a team that concluded the 2023 season with a 2–15 record and a potential franchise quarterback in Bryce Young.

Panthers reorganise their front office following a dismal campaign.

Morgan was a former NFL linebacker who played all seven years in Carolina. In 2004, he qualified for the Pro Bowl with 59 starts. Morgan was taken by the Panthers in the first round of the 2001 NFL Draft, as a Miami native. As the best defensive player in the country during his senior year, he was awarded the Chuck Bednarik Award. In Super Bowl XXXVIII, Morgan racked up a game-high 25 tackles.

According to Albert Breer of Monday Morning Quarterback, Panthers staff members were notified of Morgan’s elevation by a text message from Tepper.

Tepper tweeted, “I am thrilled to inform you that Dan Morgan has been appointed as our President of Football Operations/General Manager.” “Dan is quite knowledgeable about our football players. and a distinct plan to get us to where we all want to go. He will undoubtedly seize this chance with the same fervour he displayed while playing for the Panthers.

Recruiting a head coach is the next item on the Panthers’ offseason to-do list. 11 candidates have been interviewed by Carolina so far. The offensive coordinators for the Detroit Lions, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys, and Baltimore Ravens are among them, along with offensive coordinator Todd Monken of the Detroit Lions.
