The enemy is almost everyone who is left. Here is who Bengals supporters are supporting this weekend.
This weekend’s Cincinnati Bengals game isn’t happening, but Who Dey Nation still needs a supporter.
The NFL season of 2023 culminates on Sunday with the championship games of both conferences: the NFC championship between the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers, and the AFC championship between the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs. The Sunday game winners will play in the Super Bowl in 2024.
Although the Bengals did not make it to the postseason this year, fans still have opinions. 87% of participants in a Thursday Enquirer Instagram poll stated they will be cheering on the Lions in Sunday’s NFC matchup. Fans still remember San Francisco’s victories over Cincinnati in the 1982 and 1989 Super Bowls, so this isn’t shocking.
But Cincinnati fans’ loyalty to the Lions might go beyond their ill will with San Francisco. 76% of respondents, or more than three-fourths of the sample, believe the Lions will defeat all other teams to win the Super Bowl.
Despite Baltimore being an AFC North division foe, 72% of respondents in the Bengals’ own conference agreed with Ja’Marr Chase and indicated they were cheering for the Ravens versus the Chiefs. Naturally, Kansas City defeated the Bengals in the 2021 season, and the teams met again in the AFC championship game the following year.
