TRISTAN THOMPSON WAS SUSPENDED FOR 25 GAMES FOR BREACHING THE ANTI-DRUG PROGRAM.
Tristan Thompson, a player with the Cleveland Cavaliers, has been suspended by the NBA for breaking the rules of the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Program.
The league declared in a statement that “Tristan Thompson of the Cleveland Cavaliers has been suspended without pay for twenty-five games for testing positive for SARM LGD-4033 and ibutamoren, in violation of the terms of the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Program.”
Thompson’s ban begins with the Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Milwaukee Bucks game.
The Cavs also made a rather more intimate statement.
The NBA/NBAPA Anti-Drug Program has the full support of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and we are dismayed by the latest reports regarding Tristan Thompson. Our team will suffer as a result of his absence from the game. We support and stand by Tristan during this moment of suspension.
ESPN stated that bodybuilders and weightlifters frequently take ibutamoren and SARM LGD-4033, the medicines Thompson allegedly tested positive for, to gain muscle.
When the Cavaliers play the Houston Rockets on March 16, Thompson will be able to rejoin his squad. He will be permitted to travel and practice with the Cavaliers throughout his suspension, but he must vacate the arena two hours prior to the start of any games.
It was only lately that the Canadian player rejoined the team that selected him with the fourth overall choice in the 2011 NBA Draft. He was a part of the group that won their only NBA title to date in 2016 after rallying from a 3-1 deficit against the Golden State Warriors. Since then, Thompson has played for the Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, Sacramento Kings, Indiana Pacers, and Boston Celtics.
He was averaging 3.8 points and 3.9 rebounds in 12 minutes of play before to the ban.
Right now, the Cavaliers have won eight straight games.
