Why is Jonah Jackson not participating in the NFC Championship game between the 49ers and the Lions?

Detroit Lions vs. San Francisco 49ers NFC Championship injury report and game designations: Friday, Jan. 26

For the Lions’ game against San Francisco on Sunday, Kalif Raymond and their offensive guard will be out.

Two players will miss Sunday’s NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers, the Detroit Lions have confirmed. Jonah Jackson’s exclusion wasn’t shocking because he had previously been eliminated. After undergoing keyhole surgery the next day, the 26-year-old left guard sustained a minor tear to his meniscus in his knee during the first half of the Divisional Round 31-23 victory over the Buccaneers last Sunday. He is still in the treatment room for the time being, but it is anticipated that he will return to full health in a few weeks, making him available to play in the Super Bowl should the Lions advance. Kayode Awosika took his place for the Bucs game.

On Sunday, wide receiver Kalif Raymond is also out for the Lions. Due to a knee injury, he has missed every one of the team’s three postseason games in this series. It is anticipated that Donovan Peoples-Jones will deputize once more.

Five players have no information provided regarding their injuries: Sam LaPorta (knee), Josh Reynolds (ribs), Frank Ragnow (ankle and knee), James Houston (ankle), and Alex Anzalone (shoulder and ribs). None of these players will play against San Francisco. Elsewhere, quarterback Hendon Hooker (tooth extraction) and cornerback Chase Lucas (illness) are both listed as questionable.
