In April, the New England Patriots will have the opportunity to select their franchise quarterback. Which quarterback, if any, should they hope to select with the third overall pick?

The class’s top three quarterbacks are generally considered to be LSU’s Jayden Daniels, USC’s Caleb Williams, and UNC’s Drake Maye. If the Patriots are determined to draft a signal-caller, they will probably select one of Maye or Daniels at No. 3, as Williams is widely predicted to be chosen first off the board.

Dan Orlovsky of ESPN discussed who he would like to lead the Patriots in a recent episode of the Next Pats Podcast.

“In the first week of February, right now, Jayden Daniels comes to mind first,” Orlovsky said to hosts Phil Perry and Tom E. Curran.

“I’ve essentially called every game these guys have played outside of Caleb. Concerns about the leadership and integrity of USC quarterback Caleb Williams are a major topic of conversation in the heated debate over whether the Bears should choose Williams or go with Justin Fields.

However, Field Yates of ESPN recently refuted their assertions on ESPN 1000.

Yates responded to the accusations of Williams’ character that have been directed against him, saying, “I gotta be honest with you guys, I think some of it has been unfair to Caleb so far.” “I have not received any word from anyone who participated in that program or observed it in action while personally scouting Caleb Williams.

“I’m not sure if I’ve had conversations with every NFL scout that has visited the USC campus. However, no one I’ve spoken to has said to me, “You should be looking into his character day and night until the draft,” because it is such a problem. In actuality, nothing at all like that.

“Honestly, I don’t think character is like a red flag, or leadership is a red flag for Caleb Williams at all.”

Williams’ character issues weren’t raised for no good cause. Some commentators expressed worry over his USC leadership. Williams sobbed in the stands after Washington defeated him, with his mother covering his face. Additionally, he was spotted playing with painted nails, which caused others to criticize him for being too rough.

Williams’ leadership department has expressed worry mostly about his team’s Holiday Bowl celebrations. After scoring a touchdown, some of his teammates can be heard exclaiming, “We’re finally a team.” Williams was not involved in the season-ending match.

Trivers brought up a 3rd & 33 play in which Williams assisted Gonzaga High School in winning what is regarded as one of the best high school football games ever played in response to a question concerning the crying incident that occurred following USC’s defeat. According to Trivers, it is preferable for a player to cry after the game than during it.

“If anybody that’s ever played with Caleb Williams, or coached Caleb Williams, you know very clearly that toughness is not an issue,” Trivers stated.
