Richard Sherman, a former NFL player, was detained on suspicion of DUI, according to Washington state officials.

The Washington State Patrol reports that former NFL player Richard Sherman was taken into custody early on Saturday after being suspected of driving while intoxicated.

Seattle According to the Washington State Patrol, former NFL player Richard Sherman was taken into custody early on Saturday morning on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Trooper Rick Johnson, a patrol spokesperson, stated that no other information regarding the arrest was immediately available.

According to a representative for the King County Prosecutor’s Office, no information has yet been given to them indicating whether or not charges will be brought, as reported by the Seattle Times. The Associated Press emailed the office on Saturday, requesting a statement.

Sherman may not have had a representative speaking for him right away. An email was sent to Sherman’s social media representative, asking for a response.

Sherman played for the Seattle Seahawks for most of his NFL career. He was a player for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Francisco 49ers as well. He has been employed as a football analyst more lately.

In Seattle in 2022, Sherman entered a guilty plea to two misdemeanor charges related to a drunk driving incident and a domestic disturbance the previous year. He also acknowledged that he had broken the law by speeding in an area where there was road work.

It wasn’t immediately apparent if Sherman was represented by a lawyer. A spokesperson for Sherman identified on his social media accounts received an email requesting comment.

The Seattle Seahawks were where Sherman played the most of his NFL career. Additionally, he was a player for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Francisco 49ers. His most recent employment was as a football analyst.
