The NFL’s raise in the salary cap is excellent news for Tampa Bay.
The 2024 wage cap details were made public by the National Football League. The cap is an increase over both 2023 and the original estimate that was scheduled. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers community will be happy to hear about the new cap number.
The Buccaneers, who have multiple high-profile free agents who might eventually test free agency, have garnered a lot of attention in the early offseason. The Bucs have a long list of free agents to discuss in the upcoming weeks, but for the majority of them, there are still three that are at the top of everyone’s minds for any offseason talk.
In the unlikely event that Tampa finds a way to retain Mike Evans, Baker Mayfield, and Antoine Winfield Jr., they will all become free agents.
Many recommendations have been made by both fans and media members regarding Tampa Bay’s behavior that should be expected in order to keep their main free agents. Most proposals include some mix of the team signing a few long-term contracts and employing the franchise tag. Those discussions might not go as smoothly as planned given the three players listed above are as talented and valuable as expected. The Bucs must also deal with dead money and other cap-related issues, although the league has released some positive information about the amount of money Tampa may have to pay for those contracts.
The NFL declared that the cap for 2024 will be $255.4 million. Large figures could only seem like big numbers, but $255.4 million is a notable large figure since it exceeds projections by about $15 million.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will not be the only club to profit from the new pay cap, but it is still excellent news that the team will have more money overall.
