Blake Griffin was “begged” to return by the Celtics players; here is why he didn’t.
Blake Griffin has received calls from the Boston Celtics, but he has not returned them.
The former All-NBA forward decided to forego playing in the NBA this season in order to spend more time with his family, according to MassLive, despite the Celtics’ best efforts to sign him for the final stretch.
Griffin, who will soon be 35, spent one and a half seasons with the Brooklyn Nets the two years before playing 41 games for the Celtics in the 2022–2023 season.
Point guard Peyton Pritchard responded, “I don’t know,” to the question of why he wasn’t with the team on Monday on “Pardon My Take.” We pleaded with him to.
During their simultaneous appearance on the Barstool Sports show, Derrick White added, “I think the whole team has been begging him to.”

Griffin played only 13.9 minutes a game in 2023, averaging a pitiful 4.1 points on 34.8 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
However, it’s possible that Boston wants Griffin to be more of a locker room presence than a vital cog in their lineup. As the clear favorites, the Celtics are looking to win a title this summer.
Their acquisitions of Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday certainly raised the team’s talent level.
Additionally, it led to the departure of vocal and seasoned Celtics Marcus Smart and Grant Williams.
During his tenure with the Nets, when Kyrie Irving, James Harden, and Kevin Durant were all involved in pandemonium, Griffin had become a familiar voice in the locker room.
The Athletic was informed by Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla that Griffin had discussed spending time with his family at the conclusion of the previous campaign.
“I know what it’s like to be away from your kids and away from your family, so I stopped talking to him about it when he told me at the end of last year that his family was the most important thing.”
Despite being a six-time All-Star and five-time All-NBA player, Griffin played in the NBA for 13 seasons and had a lot of memorable moments off the court.
His public relationship with Kendall Jenner started in August 2017, when Jenner was regularly spotted sitting courtside during his Clippers games.
