Official Visit for Season Opening by Burning Three-Star ’25 CB, Wisconsin Football

One of the Wisconsin football team’s 2025 recruiting targets gave the team some good news about his visitation status.

The 2025 four-star cornerback Zay Gentry declared he will plan six official trips in the future months. The Wisconsin football team was one of the programs that Gentry invited for an official three-day visit. Gentry has had a scholarship offer from Wisconsin for a while, and in the near future, the recruiting team may give him more attention.

The Wisconsin football coaches may have found their ideal candidate in the 2025 recruiting class if they are looking for a powerful, physical corner back. Texas native Zay Gentry is well-known for his quickness and strength on defense, as he leaps over receivers to make daring plays. Gentry shuts off the opposition’s side of the field, forcing their quarterbacks to read differently.

Gentry recorded 35 solo tackles, three tackles for loss, one interception, one fumble recovery, and ten pass breakups by the end of the previous campaign. This past season, the cornerback not only played in the slot but also as a blitzer for his club, demonstrating his versatility at the position.

The top three programs for the recruit thus far in Gentry’s recruitment process are Southern Methodist, Missouri, and Wisconsin football. Although SMU had an early crystal ball forecast for the recruit, the corner back did not make any scheduled visits to the Mustangs. Although it will be an unofficial visit for the recruit, Missouri will be the first program Gentry visits.

Wisconsin Badgers Football: Could Gentry Become a Premier Wisconsin Corner? 

Without a doubt, Gentry has the potential to develop into a premier cornerback at the NCAA level. To advance to the next level, though, the 165-pound corner back will need to put on some muscle and round out his frame. Gentry rarely lets receivers move him or prevail in hand fights because of his unusually strong build. Gentry is quick, smart, and capable of making a big impact at the next level; the only question is when he will have the opportunity.

Being a skilled recruit, Gentry has the potential to be a player the Badgers feel would fit in as soon as he gets to campus. The three teams with relatively deep secondary rooms—Baylor, Nebraska, and TCU—are also scheduled to host the corner back. Many of Wisconsin football’s talented players are nearing the end of their eligibility, which is causing a mass exodus from the secondary room.
