Former Las Vegas Raiders star Damon Arnette was arrested and charged with possession of meth and a firearm last monthetained in Texas last month on suspicion of possessing a handgun and meth, former Las Vegas Raiders player Damon Arnette is refuting claims about guns and firearms.

The lawyer for the 27-year-old vowed that Arnette would be proved right in a statement provided to TMZ. Attorneys Jason Lampert and Thomas Wynne actually contend that their client’s detention on drug and gun allegations was unwarranted.

Lampert and Wynne informed TMZ that their client “was unable to provide law enforcement with his prescription for a lawful medication at the time of the stop.” If Mr. Arnette had been able to demonstrate that the drug was prescribed at the time of the stop, there would not have been an arrest for either the controlled substance or the arrest itself.

In May of last year, Arnette received a community sentence for repeatedly flashing a firearm in the presence of Las Vegas casino valets. Arnette was let go by the Raiders in 2021 because of a disturbing video that showed him threatening to kill someone while waving guns.

The defensive back found himself in trouble once more, less than a year after receiving a sentence that included possession of a gun and the recreational substance methamphetamine.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Arnette was detained on January 6 in Richardson and accused of illegally carrying a handgun and possessing less than a gram of meth.

We don’t yet have any additional information about the arrest.

On the other hand, Arnette’s attorneys maintain that stories claiming their client was taken into custody for drugs and guns are simply wrong’.

A statement from Jason Lampert of Salzano, Ettinger, Lampert & Wilson, LLP and Thomas Wynne of Milner Wynne was provided to NFL media, stating that “our client was unable to provide law enforcement with his prescription for a lawful medication at the time of the stop.”

“The arrest was based on Mr. Arnette’s inability to demonstrate that the medication was prescribed; if he had been able to do so at the time of the stop, neither the firearms nor the controlled substance would have been arrested.

Arnette’s tremendous ascent at Ohio State led to the Raiders selecting him 19th overall in the 2020 NFL Draft. He went on to make nine appearances in his rookie campaign.

He had also appeared on the team’s roster four times in the 2021 season until his release.

But in November of that year, Arnette was fired due to two lawsuits and the unsettling social media footage he had shared.

In the video, Arnette could be seen brandishing what looked to be semi-automatic guns and threatening to murder someone repeatedly.

He was reported to have displayed a gun at the Park MGM Las Vegas Hotel and Casino two months after the video surfaced.

Finally, in May of last year, Arnette received 50 hours of community service.
