Trae Young vs. Caitlin Clark in a three-point battle at the All-Star Game.
The three-point shooting competition between Steph Curry and Sabrina Ionescu was one of the more entertaining aspects of this year’s NBA All-Star Game. This was the first-ever competition of its sort between the top shooters in the NBA and the WNBA, and it was a fiercely contested game. There have been rumors that the All-Star Game of the following year would feature something similar.
Trae Young, the leading point guard for the Hawks, appeared to be fully committed to competing in a three-point challenge against Iowa Hawkeyes standout point guard Caitlin Clark when questioned about it during an interview with Taylor Rooks.
“I would, of course, of course. I had the opportunity to speak with her throughout her time in college. The only two people who have ever led college in assists and points are us. That statistic is absurd. I would rehearse a great deal more than I did for these prior three-point contests. No, I’d be prepared, for certain. I would carry it out.”
Young took part in the three-point competition this year and came in second, behind point guard Damian Lillard of the Bucks. Young was taking part in the three-point competition for the third time.
Clark has emerged as one of the sport’s most well-known female basketball players. She recently broke the NCAA record for points in a game against Ohio State when she scored her 3, 668th point. She also announced that she will be the first choice in the WNBA draft, where she is the clear favorite. It wouldn’t be shocking to see her take part in an All-Star Game competition akin to Steph vs. Sabrina in the future.
Rooks also questioned Young on the trade rumors and whether he thought he would play for the Hawks the following season:
“Hopefully? As I imagined when I was drafted here. I had the option to travel to Kentucky or Kansas, but I decided to take a different route and head to Oklahoma in an attempt to win a title. My goal was to visit there and triumph in my hometown. Make a difference.
