It may be the end of Kam Curl. Might he be done with NFL Draft too?

The Case for Commanders to Re-Sign Kam Curl.

Practice report | Kam Curl will be active vs. Eagles

The Washington Commanders have been receiving a lot of attention this offseason, mostly related to their plans for the No. 2 overall pick in the next NFL Draft. What the organization does with its upcoming free agents is another responsibility for general manager Adam Peters and incoming head coach Dan Quinn to work through. One such player is safety Kamren Curl, who has grown into a key defensive component for Washington. Joe Whitt Jr. is currently in charge of taking the defense, which was among the worst in the league, and turning it into a more well-rounded unit. Curl and other key players must be kept on the team.

“Dan Quinn has a monumental task in front of him in fixing the commanders’ defense,” writes PFF. “That team had the third-worst overall grade and gave up the most points in the NFL. In his first year in Washington, Quinn’s first aim will be to find young pillars.”Kamren Curl, the safety, is one of the few positive aspects. Despite a decline from his outstanding 2022 season, he managed a good season considering the conversations going on around him. Among eligible safeties, Curl had the 11th-best overall grade prior to the team beginning to sell players following Week 8. Next season, he will just be 25 years old. Quinn needs to prioritize getting retained.”

The Commanders will need guys to build around since the team has made major changes to its coaching staff and roster this summer. That’s Curl, who has been a production dynamo since getting selected by Washington in 2020.

The quarterback the commanders select to guide them into this thrilling new era has received a lot of attention, but players like Curl, who are about to become free agents, must also be considered.

Wilson meets with Commander’s Rival in NFL Free Agency.

As one of the best defensive players in the game, Curl will probably stay a commander because Washington has one of the largest salary cap spaces in the league; he can’t be let go. This offseason, the Commanders have a lot of decisions to make. While choosing a quarterback is undoubtedly vital, keeping Curl around is crucial for the team’s long-term plans.
