It may be the end of Saquon Barkley, might he done with Dallas Cowboys too?

The Giants are reportedly looking to sign free agent alternatives for Saquon Barkley.

The Giants will likely need to replace Saquon Barkley in 2024.

It’s looking more and more like running back Saquon Barkley may have played his final game with the New York Giants as he reaches the open market.

They will therefore need to find the star a suitable replacement, and according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, they are already thinking about the following choices:

Fowler stated, “The Giants are still considering a potential re-sign, but they are also considering other options, like Tony Pollard and Austin Ekeler.

Josh Jacobs and Derrick Henry are two of the top running backs who are unrestricted free agents this offseason. For the second year in a row, the Giants decided against placing Barkley on the franchise tag. However, this year feels different from last because of the team’s disappointing 2023 campaign, running backs’ mounting resentment, and their desire for large salaries, as opposed to last summer when they worked out a deal before training camp.

Barkley has never indicated that New York is inclined to give him a big contract; before the 2023 campaign, they signed quarterback Daniel Jones to a four-year, $160 million deal. They would get a serviceable replacement by going after someone like Pollard or Ekeler on the market without having to significantly increase their cap space. Pollard seems to be the more appealing choice between the two.

Tony Pollard could provide a positive impact for the Giants

The Dallas Cowboys have been Pollard’s home team for the past five seasons at the age of 26. During the previous season, he recorded a career-high 55 receptions and 311 yards as a receiving back in addition to running for 1,005 yards and six touchdowns.

By providing the Giants with a dependable starting running back who is versatile, Pollard might improve their offensive line. This past season, he recorded a career-high 56 first downs as a rusher. With just 97 rushing first downs during the previous season, the Giants as a team were just 23rd in the NFL. For this reason, Pollard might be a solid choice to assist in moving the ball downfield.
