This week, Michael Gallup is visiting as a free agent for the first time; before he signs his next contract, he should visit with a few more….
The Dallas Cowboys have largely remained quiet during the free agent period, and it could be said that the trade of wide receiver Michael Gallup was their largest move. The 1,100-yard receiver, a former third-round selection, began his career as one of the finest mid-round selections of the Jerry Jones era. The Colorado State product showed himself to be a useful second option in the passing attack during his rookie deal.
Regretfully, Michael Gallup suffered an ACL tear in the last stretch of the 2021 campaign, right before he was set to become a free agency. Despite the injuries, the Cowboys gave him a five-year, $62.5 million contract because they still had faith in him. This turned out to be a bad move because Gallup was never able to return to his pre-injury level of performance. Dallas let go of the homegrown talent after two unsuccessful seasons in order to free up some much-needed cap money.
Even though he may not be the same talent as he once was, Michael Gallup is still attracting some attention from teams. The wide receiver is scheduled to visit the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, and it’s likely that they won’t be the only team attempting to sign him. This information comes from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
