Disgruntled United player, who is expected to depart this summer, will have confrontational meetings with Ten Hag……..
Christian Eriksen has reportedly been unhappy with his diminished role at Manchester United for some time.
So much so that in a recent meeting, the seasoned midfield player told Erik ten Hag just how he felt. In an interview with Tipsbladet at the start of the international break, Eriksen acknowledged that he was dissatisfied with his current circumstances and that he wanted to play as much as possible.
He claimed there is rivalry for spots since Kobbie Mainoo is playing well and the other midfield players are also playing well.
“In the long run, you may naturally be anxious since I want to play as much as possible. It’s not ideal to always sit on the bench.
In fact, the confidence of his senior competitors will have suffered due to Mainoo’s captivating counterpart. Ten Hag thinks so highly of the 18-year-old that they rank behind him each week while he is competing for a starting 11 spot.
Gareth Southgate obviously feels the same way, as he decided to elevate Mainoo from England’s Under 21 team to the senior squad last week, marking Mainoo’s first senior squad promotion. After that, he was given the opportunity to make his Three Lions debut at Wembley on Saturday against Brazil, the five-time world winners.
The 32-year-old Eriksen has only made 11 starts this season in all competitions—nine in the Premier League and two in the Champions League. Ten further appearances have been made off the bench.
In contrast, the Dane played in 37 starts and seven substitute appearances during his first season at Old Trafford, despite missing a significant amount of play from February to April due to a knee injury.
Right now, everything suggests that Eriksen’s time at United will end this summer. Reporter Ben Jacobs told GiveMeSport that he anticipates the player and Ten Hag to have more discussions in the upcoming weeks. He stated: “I think something internal at Manchester United will happen before we can understand what the situation is with Christian Eriksen, off the back of his interview.
“I believe Eriksen will speak with Erik ten Hag face-to-face, and they will be completely honest with each other.” I believe Eriksen will know exactly where he stands after that meeting.
The same will apply to Sofyan Amrabat as well. I don’t believe Eriksen will have a lot of admirers in the Premier League.
