Insider Says Cowboys’ Position On Dak Prescott’s New Deal……..

After the painful playoff defeat to the Green Bay Packers the previous season, the Dallas Cowboys promptly committed to head coach Mike McCarthy and quarterback Dak Prescott for one more season. However, if things don’t work out, though, it might be the last season for both of them in Dallas.

As he enters the final year of a four-year, $160 million contract he signed in 2021, Prescott is perhaps having the best season of his career. It is currently unknown how he and the organization feel about signing another extension this offseason.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, owner Jerry Jones stated, “We are where we are, locked and loaded for this year,” indicating that the two sides have a mutual agreement despite the lack of offers.

That seems more like both parties know it’s time to move on if this season ends in another disastrous playoff run than it does like there is a mutual agreement that a deal is imminent.

The question is whether or not the Cowboys will be the team willing to provide Prescott a contract akin to the four-year, $190 million one that Kirk Cousins recently signed with the Falcons. Prescott would have no shortage of suitors on the open market.

According to this phrase, Prescott needs to take this team to the postseason and, at the absolute least, break the 29-year streak of missing the NFC Championship Game.

Dallas’ summer has been unusually quiet, but this was the loudest message the team could muster.
