From the conclusion of one season to the beginning of the next, Travis Sanheim is aware that things might change.

In 2023–24, he mostly played with Cam York; the two of them saw a lot of action in the final minutes.

Something upon which to expand later?

During his news conference last month to wrap up the season, Sanheim stated, “I’m not sure what the case is going forward, but I love playing with him.” “I hope that we can continue to play together.”

Searching for solutions and keeping them alive over time is a part of rebuilding. Why wouldn’t the Flyers start the upcoming season with York and Sanheim together? In particular

when you consider the range of things they are capable of doing without getting hurt.

York sustained a grade 2 AC joint sprain to one shoulder on February 15. The 23-year-old scored 10 goals and provided 20 assists in 22:37 minutes per game this season without missing a match.

Just three NHL players saw more minutes per game than York did from the start of March to the end of the season in mid-April: Mike Matheson of the Canadiens (25:58), John Carlson of the Capitals (25:57), and Drew Doughty of the Kings (25:14).
