Sydney Brown is prepared to lead his rehabilitation

Eagles defender Sydney Brown was talking on the phone with his brother Chase in the locker room beneath MetLife Stadium as his teammates engaged in combat on the field during the regular-season finale.

Given that Brown had recently torn his ACL, the call was, to put it mildly, emotional.

Brown remarked, “At that moment, we both shed a few tears.” “He is my go-to guy and the first person I always call. I simply had to let things out.”

The Cincinnati Bengals selected running back Chase, Sydney’s identical twin brother, in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. After 40 years, Chase and Sydney became the sixth set of twins taken in the same draft.

While they were on the phone, Chase emailed Sydney a video. Sydney is using the tape, which has inspired many, as motivation as he begins his path to recovery.

On the phone with Sydney, Chase stated, “Not many people can escape that hole.” It truly depends on how you interpret it. You’re going to leave there more quickly than anyone could.”

On January 7, on the second play from scrimmage against the New York Giants, Brown sustained a non-contact injury.

He felt unsteady in his right leg after standing up. After being inspected in the blue medical tent on the sideline, Brown was able to leave the field on his own but was carried to the locker room.

“I knew in the moment but didn’t really accept it until I was under the tent,” Brown stated.

“In those deep, dark moments, you discover a lot about who you are. You discover why you enjoy the game so much when it’s quickly taken away.”

During Wednesday’s locker room cleanup day, the rookie was in high spirits as he reflected on his debut season and discussed his future plans.

This season, Brown has recorded 38 tackles, 3 pass deflections, 1 interception, and 1 forced fumble in 14 games. This season, Brown has started six games, including the past four.

Brown caught his first interception and scored his first touchdown in the season’s last home game. His touchdown pass of 99 yards was tied for the fourth-longest interception in team history.

“I had a great time,” Brown remarked. “It’s obviously not where we intended to end up, but I believe that as a rookie, I gained a lot of skills that will help me later in my career. I want to keep proving to myself that I’m the best because I’m in love with this game.”

Before Brown can resume playing the game he adores, he has a long way to go.
