Rashahda award of $13 Million for being so competent.
The Florida Gators might come to regret their decision to sign Jaden Rashada, a talent from California.
Rashada, a four-star quarterback in the 2022 class, reportedly inked a $13 million NIL deal during his hectic recruitment process before joining the Gators.
However, Rashada abandoned his Florida pledge when the check failed to clear and signed with the Arizona State Sun Devils instead.
According to Stewart Mandel and Chris Vannini of The Athletic, the Gators are currently under investigation by the NCAA for how they handled Rashada’s controversial recruitment.
The report states that the NCAA has enquired about the roles played by Hugh Hathcock, a booster who pledged $12.6 million to Florida’s athletic department in April 2022 and later launched the Gator Guard collective, and Marcus Castro-Walker, a staff member who is listed on the school’s website as director of player engagement and NIL. “A few tweets from Hathcock, sent just prior to Rashada’s announcement, hinted at an exciting day ahead for Florida and also suggested that Hathcock might be involved in the deal.”
Steve McClain, senior assistant athletic director at Florida, said he plans to work with the NCAA to the fullest extent possible.
(A risky approach considering the achievements of programs that have avoided NCAA competition.)
McClain issued a statement saying, “We have been and will continue to cooperate with the NCAA.” “On and off the field, we hold ourselves to the highest standards of honesty and excellence. We are unable to provide further comments due to NCAA regulations regarding confidentiality.
In 2023, Rashada made three appearances for the Sun Devils. 44 out of the 82 passes he attempted were completed for 485 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions.
In contrast, Florida finished fifth in the SEC East after going 5-7 in their second season under head coach Billy Napier.
Paradoxically, the Gators are among the teams that might be punished for NCAA violations linked to NIL, along with rivals Miami and Florida State.
