Around five o’clock this evening, David Ornstein of the Athletic reported the news first.

The Italians will have the option to purchase the Belgian player for approximately £7.75 million once he signs a first-year loan agreement that expires in the summer.

Despite playing 20 games in his rookie season, Dendoncker, who joined Villa from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2022, has battled to get regular playing time ever since, particularly with the arrival of Unai Emery.

According to reports, the 28-year-old plays for Villa Park and makes over £85,000 a week. His contract expires in 2026.

Although it currently appears likely that Dendoncker will transfer to Italy, it is believed that his preferred option was to return to Wolves.

Even though the transaction hasn’t been officially announced, it seems likely that it won’t be long because Fabrizio Romano tweeted a short while ago that it was finalized, pending a satisfactory medical exam on Wednesday.

The direction Villa takes to close the gap in our midfield, with Florian Neuhaus of Borussia Mönchengladbach being the most recent name circulating, will be interesting to watch.
