Amidst WNBA free agency, Kalani Brown is expected to rejoin the Wings. *
Next week marks the formal start of the WNBA free agency moratorium, after which teams and players may begin negotiating contracts. However, there have also been some shocking developments and a few reported agreements thus far. The center for the Dallas Wings, Kalani Brown, was one of the best free agents available this summer. Following a stellar season, Brown had garnered a lot of attention. Brown reportedly consented to a deal to re-sign with the Wings, according to Girls Talk Sports TV’s Khristina Williams.
After joining the Wings as a free agent the previous season, Kalani Brown assumed a crucial role off the bench. The Los Angeles Sparks selected Brown with the seventh overall choice in the 2019 WNBA Draft. Brown spent one season with the Sparks and portions of two seasons with the Atlanta Dream before being kicked out of the league in 2022.
She participated in a career-high 32 games for the Wings last season, five of which she started. Her averages were a career-high 7.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.0 assist per game, split between 62.9 percent field goal shooting and 80.2 percent free throw shooting.
Brown was a member of the Wings’ powerful frontcourt, which also featured Teaira McCown. The pair provided one of the strongest frontlines in the WNBA to the Wings. The Wings lost to the Las Vegas Aces in the second round of the playoffs after defeating the Atlanta Dream in the first round.
Due to the agreements reached by Brown and Alanna Smith, two of the top center targets in WNBA free agency are no longer available.
