Suggested OC for the Cincinnati Bengals after Brian Callahan’s exit.
The Cincinnati Bengals must now find a new offensive coordinator after losing Brian Callahan. Additionally, even though they have an internal promotion candidate, it might be challenging to keep him on board.
As the Tennessee Titans choose Callahan to take Mike Vrabel’s place as their next head coach, the Bengals are losing him. Cincinnati now has a vacancy at this post. Dan Pitcher, the team’s quarterbacks coach, is someone who is anticipated to be in the mix for the position, even if there are already a few names being mentioned.
Pitcher’s increasing interest from other teams seeking an offensive coordinator is the Bengals’ issue, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
“QBs coach Dan Pitcher, an internal substitute for Callahan as OC for the Bengals, has a full schedule of OC interviews this week. Next up, according to sources, is a zoom with the Patriots, then at night, he’s flying to Las Vegas to play the Raiders. On Thursday, he plays the Saints,” Rapoport said on Monday.
It remains to be seen what the Cincinnati Bengals will do when it comes to their open OC role, but if they plan to keep Dan Pitcher, they will need to act fast.
It should come as no surprise that several organizations are interested in Dan Pitcher. The quarterback has been under his tutelage since the Cincinnati Bengals selected him in the 2020 NFL Draft, after all.
Pitcher also contributed to the development of backup quarterback Jake Browning, who succeeded quarterback Burrow following the star signal-caller’s injury in the 2023 campaign.
Pitcher’s body of work indicates that a promotion is definitely in order. It is unclear, though, if it will come from within the Bengals organization or somewhere else.
Bengals supporters can only wait to see what the team does moving forward.
