Reports: Orioles broadcaster Kevin Brown was fired after mentioning his difficulties against the Rays.

A allusion to Baltimore’s past struggles against the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field led to the removal of Orioles play-by-play announcer Kevin Brown from MASN broadcasts, according to reports.

The Orioles had won as many games at Tropicana Field in 2023 as they had in the previous three years combined, according to Brown, who made this observation before to a July 23 game against the Rays. Alongside Brown’s analysis was a chart depicting the Orioles’ troubles in that area.

According to sources from Awful Announcing and The Athletic, Brown’s comment offended Orioles ownership, and he hasn’t been on a MASN television broadcast since. The Washington Nationals and Orioles own MASN together.

“We don’t comment on personal affairs,” and “we look forward to hearing Kevin’s voice soon,” are among the Orioles’ denials of Brown’s suspension, which they added to “Awful.”

On Monday, several MLB broadcasters criticized the Orioles for reportedly removing Brown.

Since 2019, Brown has served as a TV and radio analyst for the Orioles. In addition, he provides play-by-play analysis for a number of collegiate sports on ESPN platforms.

From 2018 to 2021, Peter Angelos’s Orioles were among the weakest clubs in MLB. However, they have improved this season and are now leading the American League East.
