Three Norwich City players that Premier League teams may choose to sign
Relegated to the EFL Championship, Norwich City spent just one season in the English Premier League before being sent down. With two games remaining, they appear destined to finish last in the standings with just 21 points.
The Canaries won just five games in the Premier League this season, failing to build on their EFL Championship victory from the previous year. November saw the dismissal of their manager Daniel Farke due to his subpar achievements. Dean Smith was named as his replacement, but he was also unable to keep the ship afloat.
In the summer, though, a handful of talented Canaries players might catch the attention of Premier League teams.
In light of the foregoing, the following three Norwich City players are potential targets for Premier League teams in the summer transfer window.
#1 Teemu Pukki (Top-scorer for Norwich City in the league)
Teemu Pukki joined Norwich City in 2018 after leaving Brondby, and since then, he has performed consistently.
The Finland international has made 76 goals in 154 league appearances for the team thus far. In addition to being named in the EFL Championship “Team of the Season” twice, the 32-year-old won the Golden Boot award during the 2018–19 season.
Despite the challenges the Canaries had, the 32-year-old forward had a respectable season in the Premier League. Out of all the Yellows players, he has scored the most goals this season with 10 in 35 league appearances.
Pukki could prove to be a decent acquisition for Premier League clubs looking for a proven goalscorer in the summer. He will enter the final 12 months of his current contract at the end of the season and could be available to sign for a cut-price deal.
#2 Max Aarons
Although he may not have had the season he had hoped for, Englishman Max Aarons is a respectable player with a lot of potential.
The 22-year-old was one of the Canaries’ standout players during their promotion-winning season. Due to his outstanding play in the previous season, he was named to the EFL Championship’s “Team of the Season” and received a nomination for the title of “Young Player of the Season.”
This season, he participated in 32 league games and recorded 1.9 tackles, 2.1 clearances, and 0.8 interceptions per 90. Aarons made one assist at the opposing end of the field as well.
Several Premier League clubs have shown interest in signing him in the past, including Manchester United and Arsenal (as per The Sun). He is unlikely to stay at Carrow Road beyond this season.
#1 Grant Hanley
Grant Hanley has been the rock at the center of Norwich City’s defense despite the Canaries’ defensive woes this season.
This season, Hanley has made 46 blocks in the PL, which is the second-most in the division. In the league, he has triumphed in 72% of his challenges and has an 82.6% passing success rate.
The 30-year-old Scotland international is at the peak of his game and might get attention this summer from elite division teams searching for a tried-and-true center back.
