In a derby match, Norwich City defeated Ipswich Town with 11 arrests.

A variety of offenses, including as criminal damage, item throwing, antisocial behavior, and setting off a smoke device, were the reason for the arrests that took place prior to, during, and following Norwich’s 1-0 victory. All of the people held are still under police custody.

More than 27,000 people attended the match at Carrow Road, including 2,020 Ipswich Town supporters who traveled for the match.

Bottles were hurled between opposing fan bases as Ipswich supporters gathered at the stadium prior to kickoff.

After the match, police cordons were placed around the stadium and roads were closed so that fans could get home safely.

“We know this match means a great deal to both sets of fans who want to show their support and get behind their team, and I’m pleased that they did that with good spirit and humour.

“We have always maintained that our policing strategy will be cordial and just, with a particular emphasis on individuals whose actions jeopardize the safety or enjoyment of others.”

“We would want to express our gratitude to everyone for their cooperation and understanding in making sure this match went off without a hitch.”

Both before and after the game, there was a noticeable police presence throughout the city.

It took months to organize, according to senior commanders, and involved personnel from Norfolk County Council, both football clubs, the East of England Ambulance Service, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, and the British Transport Police, in addition to Norfolk Fire & Rescue Service.
