ESPN REPORT: So Sad, The Detroit Tigers Head Coach has been Issued A..

Four players including Jackson Jobe arereassigned by the Detroit Tigers in the first round of spring training cuts.

Sarasota, Florida: With less than three weeks before Opening Day on March 28, the Detroit Tigers optioned one player to Triple-A Toledo and reassigned five players, including pitching prospects Jackson Jobe, Ty Madden, and Brant Hurter, to minor-league camp on Friday.

In MLB spring training, 54 players are still participating.

Manager A.J. Hinch stated, “They’re not going to force our guys out of camp, which is the obvious first message. Each of their messages is a little bit different depending on their circumstance.”

The Tigers have optioned right-handed reliever Brendan White, who was on the 40-man roster but missed a few weeks due to stiffness in his right elbow, to Triple-A Toledo.

Midway through June of the previous season, White made his MLB debut, pitching 40⅔ innings with a 5.09 ERA. He played with the Mud Hens for the remainder of the season, totaling 37 innings in 29 appearances.

Hinch remarked, “We really enjoy where he’s at.” “He can help us in April once he gets into his season, but he’s just not going to factor into the alternatives that we have and how we’re going to construct the bullpen.”

Along with prospects Hurter, Jobe, and Madden, the Tigers also sent right-hander Garrett Hill and catcher Eliezer Alfonzo to minor-league camp. These five players are not on the 40-man roster because they were invited to big-league spring training as non-roster invitees.

As per MLB Pipeline, the three pitching prospects—Jobe at No. 3, Madden at No. 5, and Hurter at No. 16—are among the organization’s top 30 prospects.
