Shelbourne Praising for Altruistic Move Towards Galway United

Ahead of their Friday night match in the League of Ireland Premier Division, Shelbourne has shown some class by showing their respect for their League of Ireland rivals, Galway United.

Due to the unpleasant circumstances from their game with Drogheda United earlier this month, the table toppers will not have their supporters with them for the match.

At Drogheda’s Weaver Park, an incident involving a pyrotechnic that looked to have been thrown from the away end struck match official Dermot Broughton, marring the contest.

The incident, which stopped the 2-2 draw for fifteen minutes, left Shels’ manager Damien Duff “embarrassed,” and he welcomed his club’s upcoming FAI fine.

Since then, the league’s decision-makers have chosen to prohibit Shels supporters from going to their next game at Eamonn Deacy Park, which means the title contenders will not have the advantage of a boisterous traveling fan base for the match.

However, opponents point out that Galway will also lose out on matchday ticket sales from what was anticipated to be a sizable traveling contingent from Dublin, so they are not the only team that stands to lose out from the decision.
