ESPN REPORT: So Sad, Pitt Panthers Men’s Basketball Head Coach has been Issued A…

“Heckling is my passion,” says Blake Hinson of Pitt, explaining the “disrespectful” Duke celebration.

Before tipoff, Pittsburgh wing Blake Hinson approached his teammates with an uncommon grievance inside the 9,300-seat volcano of animosity and hate known as Cameron Indoor Stadium, the most frightening road venue in college basketball.

It was too cozy, these Cameron Crazies.

Hinson said to Yahoo Sports, “I don’t know if it was reverse psychology or they were trying to screw with me, but throughout warm-ups, they were saying hi and being really kind to me.” “I told my teammates that I didn’t like having the support of the other team. I live for heckling people.

By the time Pittsburgh upset Duke this past Saturday, 80–76, Hinson had given up worrying about the Blue Devils supporters being too generous to him. He was now the most despised person in Durham, the source of many middle fingers, and the focal point of the most memorable image of the college basketball season to date.

After making a string of daring 3-pointers, step-backs, transition pull-ups, and even a hotly contested 28-footer at the shot clock buzzer, Hinson started the rivalry with the Crazies by mouthing off. He then received a technical foul in the second half for bumping a Duke player, making fun of the Crazies for being too loud, and saying something to the referee that he knows he shouldn’t have to.

His 24-point performance and 7-for-7 3-point shooting helped Pittsburgh win its first game at Duke since 1979, and it was the cherry on top. To celebrate, Hinson jumped up onto the scorer’s table in front of the throngs of blue-clad Crazies, gave them kisses, and thumped his chest.
