ESPN REPORT: So Sad, The West Coast Eagles Head Coach has been Issued A…

After horrific grief, Eagles legend says the premiership coach can’t continue.

Probably the club’s worst day, Eagles legend Glen Jakovich declares that Adam Simpson’s tenure as coach is over after 18th-place Hawthorn crushed West Coast by 116 points.

In the event that 17th and 18th met in Tasmania, advertised as the Harley Reid Cup in honor of the young player predicted to go first in the draft, the Eagles did not fire a single shot.

They were dominated by a rookie Hawks team that scored just two points in the second half.

Following the defeat, Jakovich stated of Simpson on 6PR radio, “Definitely, he needs to leave — he can’t continue.”

When asked if he had to go right away, Jakovich said, “Yes.” Something needs to happen; the team needs to speak up, stand by it, and engage with their fan base.

“Not all coaches remain in their positions. Sadly, it is the case (his time is up). This cannot go on; something has to give.

“We arrived today anticipating a close match between the 17th and 18th teams—a 116-point defeat? The fifth-worst in the history of the team? Who is just going up against Hawthorn? Apologies.

Simpson struggled to understand the utter humiliation, which was West Coast’s second consecutive round of play in which they scored more than 100 points.

He told reporters, “It’s really disappointing, not good enough, and unacceptable.”

“That game was disappointing; there wasn’t much to learn from it.”

This season, the Eagles have lost four games by 40 points, two by 60 points, and two by 100 points—horrible numbers for the once-proud team.

West Coast’s greatest players are still out of commission this season; only two members of their 2018 premiership team played against the Hawks.

For Eagles supporters and members who survived the same cruel stretch the previous season, in which West Coast ended second worst with two wins, it’s all simply deja vu.

Hawthorn’s victory with 116 points is the second-best in VFL/AFL history from a team that is bottom of the ladder; only Collingwood’s 178 points over St Kilda in 1979 stands as the record.

With the players on the field, Fox Footy’s David King stated he was unable to evaluate the Eagles’ coaching staff.

In an interview with First Crack, he stated, “I think it’s hard to appraise these games with half your list that wouldn’t be playing if you had a slightly healthy balance in your list.”

“I’m not sure how they will evaluate the coaching.

“They have potential, but they can’t stay in the battle.”

With an average loss margin of 49 points, West Coast has only won three of their previous 36 games. The Eagles will next host Essendon on Saturday night in Perth.
