Head coach of the Winnipeg Jets Rick Bowness is taking a leave of absence after his wife Judy gets admitted to the hospital after having a seizure.
The Winnipeg Jets announced in a statement on Monday that head coach Rick Bowness has taken a leave of absence from the team following his wife’s seizure on Sunday night.
According to the team, Judy Bowness is receiving additional tests at the hospital. No other information was given.
The Jets said in a statement on Monday that Judy experienced the seizure on Sunday night.
The team’s PR Twitter account said, “We ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy at this time.”
In an interview on Monday, Arniel wished Bowness well and stayed committed to focusing on their next game.
He told reporters, “Obviously, Judy and Rick are going through a very difficult time right now, and our thoughts and prayers are with them.”
We’ll just have to wait and observe how things develop day by day, clearly observing her improvement and Rick’s performance. However, everyone feels like they’re a part of the family here, and it’s something we talk about frequently and it definitely affects everyone deeply.
‘Things happen,’ he continued. We also went through it together as a group after having a brief relationship with Rick last year, but you also feel bad for them.
The most important thing for our group to focus on is making sure that we don’t let Rick down by playing tomorrow, as if we had to play for him and give him two points at all costs.
