“More Tangible” Cowboys of Dallas signing LB Projected Devin White; Jerry Jones Scheme?
LAS VEGAS: Jerry Jones promises that in terms of cap space, his team will go “all in” in 2024.
The owner of the Dallas Cowboys has also identified “run-stopping” as being “more physical” as a priority when assembling the team for the upcoming campaign.
“Dallas is never bashful about acquiring big stars,” according to CBS Sports.
Two out of three isn’t too awful, though.
The thought of the Cowboys attempting to sign Buccaneers linebacker Devin White as a free agency this summer makes sense if we assume that Jones is sincere in his first two assertions. His CV lists both team (he’s a Super Bowl winner) and individual (he’s been an All-Pro and Pro Bowler) credentials.
However, CBS’s claim that Dallas’ front office approach is based on a throwback aesthetic with “Wildcattin’ Jerry” is blatantly false. And it affects the way we think each time we see a projection like this one about the Cowboys.
This theory makes some logic in parts. White, who is only 25 years old and a high first-round pick, can play off-ball linebacker and run the run. At 240 pounds, he is rather hefty and might not cost a fortune.
However, Spotrac forecasts that over the course of a two-year contract worth $21.5 million, White will make $10.7 million yearly. That’s probably too much “bank” for Dallas, too.
Furthermore, Pro Football Focus—for what it’s worth—does not think highly of White.
