Super Bowl 2024: Zoo animals across America make their predictions for the big game… so who is going to come out on top between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers?
Zoo animals across the United States have chimed in on Super Bowl predictions as the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers gear up to take the field on Sunday.
Several zoos placed two boxes corresponding both teams in enclosures and waited to see which one the animals are drawn into. After the votes were tallied, majority of the animals favored the Chiefs to win their second consecutive title in Las Vegas.
At Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse, New York, the Chiefs were picked by two elephant calves. Meanwhile, tiger cubs Coba and Zuzaan disfigured the 49ers block after pushing both boxes around their enclosure.
At the Maryland Zoo, miniature Mediterranean donkeys Harry and Lloyd were split between the two teams.
Lulu, a red panda at Akron Zoo in Ohio, also picked Kansas City to cap off the predictions.
The animals’ predictions conflict those of the odds makers who have the 49ers favored to win.
San Francisco finished their season with a 12-5 record on top of the NFC. They also secured wins over the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions in the playoffs to book their spot in the Super Bowl.
On the other hand, the Chiefs finished with an 11-6 record on top of the AFC East. The defending champions are riding a five-game win streak including victories over the Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens in the postseason.
The Chiefs have appeared in four of the last five Super Bowls and won two of those title games. A win on Sunday would make them the first repeat champions since the New England Patriots in 2003 and 2004.
Meanwhile, the 49ers are tied with the Dallas Cowboys for the second-most Super Bowl titles with five. The new-look team will try to win their first title since 1994.
The Chiefs and 49ers will kickoff at 6.30pm PT as they tussle for the Lombardi Trophy at Allegiant Stadium.
