GOOD NEWS: Tonight, is Cade Cunningham performing? Pacers vs. Pistons injury report….

The Indiana Pacers and the Detroit Pistons ought to be competitors.

They have a past. They currently have two players who don’t get along: Jaden Ivey and Bennedict Mathurin. They play four times a year and are in the same division.

But they are not rivals, at least not yet, as the Pistons are just 12-56 and when you are this bad, you don’t have rivalries. The Pacers are where the Pistons hoped to be this season, sitting in the 7th seed, just a half-game behind Philly for the final playoff spot with at least a good chance to host a play-in game.

This rivalry should eventually be revived, but in order for that to happen, the Detroit Pistons must get better. They would need to win today in order to avoid losing the season series in four games. However, who will play for Detroit?

Injury updates for the Detroit Pistons vs. Indiana Pacers game: Is Cade Cunningham participating?

The fact that Cade Cunningham is not mentioned on the injury report is excellent news for the Pistons since it suggests that his benching him during the previous game was merely a precaution.

One of the many things to keep an eye on as the season comes to an end is Cade’s health. It would be great to see him play close to 70 games and exit the season healthy and strong for the first time in his career.

The bad news is that Isaiah Stewart, Quentin Grimes, and Ausar Thompson are all out of tonight’s game, meaning the Pistons still have a lot of walking wounded. Taj Gibson and Simone Fontecchio are both marked as dubious. Despite being the Pistons’ biggest supporter, Gibson was injured in his lone game this season.

Doug McDermott’s status is classified as uncertain, and Bennedict Mathurin will miss the remainder of the Pacers season due to injury.

It’s unfortunate that the Ivey/Mathurin clash will not take place tonight, and it’s not ideal that youngster Ausar Thompson is missing so much time this late in the season due to an asthma-related sickness, though ideally this won’t be a recurring issue.
