Diggs and Overshown on schedule for the Cowboys camp comeback
INDIANAPOLIS: Due to ACL tears earlier in the season, All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs and promising rookie linebacker DeMarvion Overshown were both out for the Dallas Cowboys, and their absences probably caught up to them come postseason time.
However, the squad will start getting ready for the plethora of offseason duties they have to complete in an effort to try and better the team for 2024, and they’ll do so with encouraging news for both players.
No, you probably won’t hear about either getting fully cleared for voluntary OTAs or minicamp in June. According to the team’s front office, however, there’s a more than solid chance one or both could escape the physically unable to perform (PUP) list to begin training camp in July.
“I think it’s more realistic for camp,” said Executive Vice President and Director of Player Personnel Stephen Jones from the 2024 NFL Combine in Indianapolis.
Diggs and Overshown would not be allowed to practice until they were taken off the PUP list if they were added in July. They would go to reserve and would have to sit out at least the first four games of the regular season if they were still on it following the last roster purge in late August.
Fortunately, they are both currently far, far away from the worst-case scenario of perhaps missing October’s play.
