All-time Tar Heel: Armando Bacot of UNC basketball developed following his freshman year
CHAPEL HILL: Armando Bacot has participated in 72 Chapel Hill college basketball games.
Tuesday night’s 84-51 Tar Heels victory over Notre Dame marked Bacot’s 71st and final game in the Smith Center. Bacot currently owns two framed No. 5 UNC basketball jerseys.
The game at Carmichael Auditorium in 2019 during Bacot’s freshman year, however, stands out as the one that had a significant impact on his long-lasting and dedicated career.
In UNC’s 68-64 loss against Wofford that day, Bacot missed 12 of his 14 shots. The Tar Heels finished the season with a 14-19 record.
As of right now, Bacot, a fifth-year senior, leads UNC in both double-doubles and rebounds with 162 games played, an ACC record.
Bacot assisted the seventh-ranked Tar Heels (24-6, 16-3 ACC) in securing at least a share of the ACC regular-season championship for the first time since the 2018–19 campaign with Tuesday’s victory over the Fighting Irish.
