Pete Nance Is Prepared to Establish Himself.

Pete Nance, a 23-year-old forward from Akron, signed a 10-day contract with Cleveland on Thursday afternoon, giving him the chance to continue his father and brother’s legacy while forging a new path. He began the season with the G-League’s Charge and will now play with the hot Cavaliers, who have won 11 of their previous 14 games and six in a row. They will begin a four-game road trip in Atlanta on Friday night.

Nance was beaming after practice on Friday before the team left for the ATL.

“I mean, it’s amazing,” the 225-pound, 6-10 Nance exclaimed. Naturally, I’m from nearby and have always been a Cavaliers supporter. It’s clearly a dream come true to be able to practice and spend time with the team and these guys. It’s simply an incredibly amazing moment because it’s something I’ve thought about my entire life.

Even though it’s a happy occasion, Nance’s signature is by no means a formal agreement. The former star player for Revere has made his way into the NBA. Last Wednesday, he completed an incredible stint with the Charge by recording the team’s first triple-double in the past two years with 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists in a victory over the Mad Ants in Indiana.

Nance shot 9 for 15 from the field that evening, including 5 of 10 from long range, and in 40 minutes of work, he committed no turnovers.

Nance was undrafted this past June, finally signed with the Charge, following a five-year NCAA career that started with Northwestern and ended with a single season at North Carolina. After spending Summer League.

Head Coach J.B. Bickerstaff lauded him, saying, “He’s one of those guys that asks the right questions.” “He’s one of those guys you just need to introduce once.” He observes, focuses, pays attention, and then puts in the effort once more.

Nance committed to Northwestern after having a standout prep career at Revere, where he won Ohio Division II Player of the Year in 2018. During his four years there, Nance grew significantly and finished as a senior with an average of 14.6 points per game. Nance decided to test the waters in the 2022 Draft before going back to school and spending his fifth season at Chapel Hill.

Additionally, he will have an opportunity to contribute in the NBA following his brief tenure with the Charge.

“My objective for the 10-day stay is to learn as much as I can by just being around the guys and talking to them,” Nance stated. Given that this is the greatest basketball league in the world, I’m trying to learn as much as I can while also putting in my best effort and working as hard as I can. Basically, I’m just doing my hardest to leave a positive impression.

After Tuesday night’s victory in Westchester, Charge head coach Mike Gerrity surprised Nance in the locker room with the good news.
