KNOXVILLE, Tenn. Josh Heupel, the head coach of Tennessee football, has received a raise and contract extension.

Tennessee Athletics declared on Tuesday that he will now receive $9 million a year in addition to incentives under the terms of his deal, which extends until January 2029.

It has taken Heupel two seasons to turn the football squad around. The Vols finished the previous season with an Orange Bowl victory over Clemson, going 11-2 overall. In terms of total offense and scoring, the Vols’ offense led the country.

Tennessee Vols head coach Josh Heupel plans to stay in Knoxville for a while. He recently paid $18.5 million for a seven-bedroom, 12,300-square-foot home in KNOXVILLE.

There are several photos of this wonderful parcel’s stunning exteriors, but none of Josh’s new house on the property or its rooms. They show a location with lots of potential for future construction and improvements.

There are 16 stucco-built rooms in the house on this land, according to the description, which dates back to 2018. According to The Post, Josh plans to construct a pool house on the land, in part to give himself some privacy.

Heupel released a statement saying, “I am grateful to President Boyd, Chancellor Plowman, Danny White, and of Vol Nation for their great support.” “We never take for granted the tremendous pride our crew has in representing the Power T. To create a championship program that Vol Nation and all VFLs can be proud of, we will keep up our relentless work. Above all, our players are the ones who should take all the glory for our comeback on Rocky Top. They have been our supporters for the past two years, and they have given us their all each and every day via diligence, initiative, unity, and reliable routines. I’m honored to serve as their coach.”

In the history of the Vols football program, Heupel is just the sixth head coach to have 11 wins. Four times by Phillip Fulmer, once by Johnny Majors, once by Bill Battle, and twice by Robert Neyland. The only two who have completed it in their first two seasons are Heupel and Battle.

For the first time since 2001, the Vols have won 11 games in a season.

Since assuming the position of head coach, he has an 18-8 overall record.

Heupel’s current contract is worth $4 million more than it was before. September of last year saw him win a $1 million raise following his debut season on Rocky Top.

Right present, he shares fifth place among the SEC’s highest-paid coaches. Before his rise, he ranked eleventh in the conference. His salary is only less than that of head coaches Nick Saban of Alabama ($11.7 million), Kirby Smart of Georgia ($11.25 million), Jimbo Fisher of Texas A&M ($9.5 million), and Brian Kelly of LSU ($9.5 million).
