Indiana Fever loses heartbreakingly to the Los Angeles Sparks in a last-second attempt.

INDIANAPOLIS: At Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena, the Indiana Fever lost heartbreakingly, falling to the Los Angeles Sparks 79-78 on a last-second shot.

The Fever’s record drops to 6-17 after the loss, while the Sparks’ record rises to 8-15. Los Angeles and Indiana will play again on Thursday in Los Angeles.

Indiana guard Victoria Vivians remarked, “It’s not our youth, because we have over half of the season gone.” “Since the first training camp, we have been working hard. We simply need to follow the instructors’ instructions and not use our youth as an excuse any longer.”

Three takeaways from the Fever’s defeat are as follows:

Heartbreak at the last second.

With one minute remaining, Indiana appeared to have the game won, leading by four points for the most of the fourth quarter.

Jordin Canada, however, was focused on completing the Sparks’ late five-point surge and ending the team’s eight-game losing streak. The Fever’s lead was reduced to two points by a layup by Nneka Ogwumike, and the Sparks regained possession of the ball after a Vivians three-point attempt went wide.

Then, trailing by two points with ten seconds remaining in the game, Canada—who is shooting 21.1% overall and 35.3% this season—made a last-second basket beyond the arc.

“We just have to execute better, defensively and offensively,” Vivians stated. “They won the game on a shot that they shouldn’t have, but we just have to be better as a team.”

With 3.8 seconds remaining on the clock, Indiana called a timeout to move the ball to half court right away. After getting the ball out of inbounds, freshman Aliyah Boston of the Fever passed it to Kelsey Mitchell, who missed a 3-point shot in the closing seconds.

Coach Christie Sides declared, “When it comes to what we’re trying to do, enough is enough.” “We keep losing in this region right here at the finish, and we let up 12 points in the final three minutes. We force them to miss a shot, stay upright, and give our all to win the ball in the end. We discuss the same subject again and over. allow’s stick together and not allow those three get away.”

Victoria Vivians makes a splash in the opening group.

Following NaLyssa Smith’s injury, Victoria Vivians took her place in the starting lineup for the Fever. This season, Vivians has started seven games: two at the start and five after Smith’s injury.

She demonstrated her worth as a starter on Tuesday. In just 27 minutes, Vivians scored 17 points and pulled down six rebounds, surpassing the 1,000 career point threshold.
