How Jeff Brohm’s contract stacks up vs UofL staff and the ACC

Jeff Brohm thought it was time to return to his alma mater, the University of Louisville, even though he had turned down the head coaching position in November 2018. After leaving Purdue University in December 2022, Brohm received a six-year, $36 million contract to take over as head football coach at University of Louisville.

The former Trinity standout was head coach Howard Schnellenberger’s quarterback at the University of Louisville from 1989 to 1993. After that, he went back to UofL in 2003, where he worked as an assistant coach under Steve Kragthorpe and Bobby Petrino for the following six years.

After leaving to take over as head football coach at Western Kentucky in 2014, Brohm managed the Hilltoppers for three seasons, winning thirty of them and only losing ten. He was able to revitalize a team that had not won more than three games in a season since 2012 when he took the head coaching job at Purdue University in 2017.

He played for the Boilermakers for six seasons, making it to a bowl game four times while he was in West Lafayette. His teams at Purdue also won three games against teams ranked in the top five, something the University of Louisville hasn’t accomplished since 2016. In 2022, Jeff Brohm would conclude his career at Purdue, where he won the Big Ten West title.

His current goal is to infuse the Louisville football program, which has been mired in mediocrity since Lamar Jackson left in 2017, with new life and excitement.
