Latest: Another Mega Star Commits To California Golden Bears Football…

LB Carter Jones Commits to Cal for Class of 2025

Carter Jones, a junior inside linebacker from Irvine, California, committed to Cal for the class of 2025 after receiving offers from a number of schools, including Florida State, LSU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Miami, Oregon State, Arizona, and Oklahoma.

The 225-pound, 6-foot-1 Jones, a student at Crean Lutheran High School, announced his decision on social media on Sunday.

Both 247 Sports and Rivals grade Jones as a three-star recruit, and 247 Sports Composite lists him as the 64th-best linebacker prospect in the country for the junior class.

Jones recorded 152 tackles, including nine tackles for loss, during his junior season

When the Bears played USC, he went to see Cal. Carter seemed unfazed by Cal’s late two-point conversion attempt, which resulted in a 50-49 loss in the game.

Under defensive coordinator Peter Sirmon and head coach Justin Wilcox, inside linebacker is always a vital position in Cal’s defense.

As a redshirt sophomore inside linebacker for Cal this past season, Kaleb Elarms-Orr showed signs of being a star, but he has now hit the transfer portal. Inside linebacker Jackson Sirmon, an all-conference selection, has run out of eligibility and missed part of the 2023 season due to an arm injury.

But Cade Uluave, the Pac-12 defensive freshman of the year, did a fantastic job in Sirmon’s stead.

Naturally, the Bears will be in the midst of their second season in the Atlantic Coast Conference by the time Jones gets to Cal. For this reason, it was noteworthy that Cal secured Jones’ pledge before Florida State, Miami, and a few other ACC teams.
