Gonzaga will receive Michael Ajayi from Pepperdine.
Transfer of pepperdine Michael Ajayi declared on social media on Tuesday that he had committed to Gonzaga.
This month, Ajayi, a Washington resident, signed up for the transfer site.
After transferring from Pierce College (Washington), the 6-foot-7 wing played just one season at Pepperdine but was named to the first team of the West Coast Conference after averaging 17.2 points and 9.9 rebounds while shooting 47% from three-point range.
He had a fantastic final run of the season, scoring 30 points and pulling down 17 rebounds in a late-February victory over Pacific. Ajayi had 21 points and 17 rebounds in a victory over Pacific in the WCC tournament, and then he had 14 points and 15 rebounds in a defeat versus San Diego.
In the nonconference portion of the season, he also performed admirably against strong opposition, scoring 25 points against Indiana State and 31 points against UNLV. Ajayi averaged 10.0 points and 8.5 rebounds in Gonzaga’s two losses.
Along with Jevon Porter and Houston Mallette, Ajayi is one of three Pepperdine starters who have transferred. Last week, Mallette pledged to play for Alabama the following year.
