It may be the end of Ethan McIlroy’s season. Might he be done with the Ulsters too?

Full-back Ethan McIlroy of Ulster has disclosed that he suffered a “concussion and facial fracture” during their United Rugby Championship victory against Munster this past weekend.
As he dove for the try line halfway through the first half, Munster full-back Shane Daly struck the 23-year-old in the head, seriously injuring him and necessitating his removal from the game.

The province attested to the fact that McIlroy was brought to the Royal Victoria Hospital, treated in the emergency room, and then allowed to go home.

“After Ethan’s injury, the Ulster Rugby Medical team would like to thank their colleagues in the RVH for the excellent care and attention they provided,” the statement from Ulster Rugby said.

Ulster did not say how long McIlroy will be out due to injury. The full-back’s absence adds to their injury problems, since the other two backs in the back three are missing Will Addison (hamstring).

If any of the other injured players will be back for this Friday’s game against the Emirates Lions, the club did not confirm.
