It may be the end of Josh Aloiai’s season. Might he be done with Manly too?

If the English Super League calls, the Manly Sea Eagles could be inclined to give Josh Aloiai an early release.

Capable of playing at prop or lock, Aloiai has not impressed many since joining the Northern Beaches at the end of 2020, following a move from the Wests Tigers.

Despite the fact that he demonstrated more on the park in 2023 than he has since leaving the joint venture, the Sea Eagles may decide to void his contract, which runs through the end of 2025.

Wide World of Sports is reporting that Aloiai is being courted by the Leigh Leopards, an English Super League team led by former aggressive forward Adrian Lam.

It’s hardly surprising that at least one club would be planning a play for the forward, even though his NRL form hasn’t been as strong as it was at the Tigers during his time at the Sea Eagles. His style would also probably flourish in England.

The Sea Eagles are trying to balance their roster, while Leigh is hoping to start an NRL recruitment binge, which has sparked discussions over Aloiai’s future.

Although the Northern Beaches had some forward issues last year—Sean Keppie was previously released to the South Sydney Rabbitohs—the club has now confirmed the acquisitions of Corey Waddell from the Canterbury Bulldogs and Aitasi James from the Wests Tigers.

The fact that Luke Brooks has joined to play five-eighth with club captain Daly Cherry-Evans, who will wear the number seven, and Josh Schuster, who had such a great rookie season playing alongside Haumole Olakau’atu, is another factor.

Leigh will join players like Ricky Leutele, Lachlan Lam, John Asiata, and Ava Seumanufagai at the club if he signs Aloiai.
