NBA report: The Knicks have terminated Evan Fournier’s contract due to…………….

We weren’t prepared for the complete termination and isolation of Evan Fournier’s Knicks contract.

Despite Evan Fournier’s continued exclusion from the starting lineup, the New York Knicks aren’t in a hurry to let him go, according to Fred Katz of The Athletic.

For the 2024–25 season, Fournier has a $19 million club option. Katz clarified that accepting the option “is on the table” since it would assist New York align the finances in a significant transaction.

He added, “League insiders claimed the Knicks are still targeting the upcoming summer for a big-star trade.” To do that, they would prefer to deal with as little as possible from today’s rotation. They might have to include Grimes and at least two of Robinson, Hart, and Donte DiVincenzo in a deal this year if they trade Fournier for expiring veterans.

Only three times has Fournier worn a suit in 2023–24; the most recent was on January 18 when he played for 5:36 in a 113–109 victory over the Washington Wizards.

The 31-year-old didn’t play much the previous season either. His 27 games played was a career low, and he played the second-fewest minutes per game.

Following the Knicks’ loss to the Miami Heat in the second round of the 2023 NBA playoffs, Fournier surmised that the writing was on the wall.

They will never be able to hold me. According to Brian Lewis of the New York Post, he stated, “I would be extremely astonished if they did.” “Well, we’ll see. Obviously, I have no control over it.”
