News Update: Caitlin Clark could perhaps be the next female steph curry depending how rel….

When Caitlin Clark performs, the atmosphere is like a circus.

Caitlin Clark, a senior guard at the University of Iowa, is a female basketball celebrity in her own right.

Statistics have consistently supported that assertion. She averaged 27.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 8.6 assists per game in her junior year. As a senior, she has averaged 31.7 points, seven rebounds, and 7.7 assists in 20 games.

She was excellent the previous year, but she has improved much more as a senior.

Everywhere Clark performs, she draws large audiences, and it appears that her popularity also extends to television.

Record numbers watched No. 2 Iowa’s shock loss to No. 18 Ohio State this past Sunday, which ended 100-92, according to an NBC release (h/t Awful Announcing).

NBC pointed out that the game, which had Clark in it, drew an average of 1.93 million viewers. Since 2010, it has been the highest watched women’s college basketball regular season game on all networks, not just NBC.

With 45 points, Clark led all scorers, but OSU forward Cotie McMahon also merits recognition. She contributed 12 rebounds and 33 points.

OSU’s win over Clark’s Iowa squad improved the Buckeyes’ rankings from No. 18 to No. 12 in the nation. Because of the loss, Iowa fell to No. 5.
