For Iowa (19-2, 8-1 Big Ten), Kate Martin scored 16 points and Sydney Affolter added 12 more. The Hawkeyes, who lost to Ohio State in overtime last Sunday, ending their 15-game winning run, gained momentum in the second half of the game after finding it difficult to convert first-half opportunities.

In the first half, Nebraska (13-7, 5-4) only made one of its first 11 shots. However, the Huskers capitalized on the Hawkeyes’ poor shooting to grab a 31-27 lead late in the half. Despite having a 9-0 lead early in the game, Iowa’s first quarter saw five minutes without a field goal.

Iowa kept that momentum into the third quarter, shooting 71.4% from the field while leading by as much as 19 points in the quarter.

Jaz Shelley had 19 points to lead Nebraska. Alexis Markowski had 17 points and 11 rebounds and Callin Hake had 11 points.

Nebraska: Due to their own troubles, the Huskers were unable to capitalize on Iowa’s early setbacks. The majority of Nebraska’s offensive came from Shelley and Markowski, and the team was able to outrebound the Hawkeyes. Though Markowski recorded her 13th double-double, leading the Big Ten, Shelley needed assistance leaving the floor late in the game due to an ankle injury.

Iowa: The Hawkeyes recovered from their loss to Ohio State to maintain their lead in the Big Ten standings. The run late in the first half and early in the third quarter roused Clark and her teammates from their poor start. Against Nebraska, Iowa has won nine straight games.
