         Most recent Field Projection.

It may feel as like nobody belongs in the 2024 men’s NCAA tournament right now after a week in which it seemed like every rated team fell and none was safe.

However, in two months, the selection committee will assemble a 68-team bracket, with Purdue, Kansas, Connecticut, and Arizona now anticipated as the top seeds.

More interesting than the order of the top seeds is the fact that we now have six Mountain West teams predicted to go to the dance, compared to five teams from the Big Ten, five from the ACC, and three from the Pac-12.

The upcoming analysis will have a lot of NET, RES, and QUAL. The foundation of the Quads data and the main sorting criteria used by the selection committee to choose and seed the field is the NCAA Evaluation Tool, or NET. RES, which is essentially a gauge of who you defeated regardless of the scoring margin, is the average ranking of the two resume measures (KPI and SOR). QUAL, which is based on adjusted efficiency and scoring margin, is the mean ranking of the two predictive metrics (BPI and KenPom). When determining the anticipated field, all three are crucial.

It’s also important to remember that all predicted automatic bids rely on predictive parameters. Most bracketologists use conference records to determine their picks, but since we have numerous superior data points and it’s early in the season with few league games played, it doesn’t make sense to utilize that one.

Now that we have that out of the way, let’s begin with the entire bracket and then quickly discuss the present situation of the bubble and the top seed line-up. The complete conference-by-conference summary that follows will highlight some of the most significant adjustments from a week ago.
