Today, UConn takes on Villanova in an attempt to exact revenge for one of its worst defeats of the year. The Huskies’ season record dropped to 17-4 after an 82-67 home loss to Notre Dame. Despite this, they are still unbeaten in conference games (9-0) and 17-4 overall.

A week after suffering two straight defeats, the Wildcats turned things around with a decisive 95-64 victory over DePaul. Villanova has a 13-7 overall record and is 6-3 in Big East play.

The two stars of the Huskies, forward Aaliyah Edwards and guard Paige Bueckers, will be the focus of this contest. Against Notre Dame, the two scored 40 points in total; Bueckers averages 20.0 points and Edwards scores 16.7 points per game.

Lucy Olsen, a guard who averages 23.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game this season, is the main player leading Villanova. In every game this season save five, she has led the Wildcats in scoring. With 10.6 rebounds per game, Christina Dalce tops the squad in rebounding.

Villanova is a team that UConn has previously defeated 17-3. This past season, the Huskies defeated Villanova twice, including in the Big East conference title. Edwards led the Huskies with 19 points and 15 rebounds in that game, even though Bueckers was not involved.

The Huskies score 83.5 points per game this year – 10th in the country. The Wildcats, meanwhile, score just 67.1 points per game – 152nd in the nation. Both sides are about equal defensively, as UConn allows 59.9 points per game and Villanova gives up 59.6 points per game.
