Seahawks QB Drew Lock Reveals ‘Plethora of Reasons’ for Re-Signing
QB Drew Lock of the Seattle Seahawks discussed the different factors that went into his choice to re-sign with the organisation this summer.
During training camp the previous year, Drew Lock, in his rookie season with the Seattle Seahawks, lost to Geno Smith for the starting quarterback position. But when it came time to decide what to do with his life, he wanted to stay in Emerald City and support Smith even more.
When asked why he decided to re-sign with the Seahawks during free agency following Thursday night’s 24-13 preseason victory over the Minnesota Vikings, he listed a number of reasons, including the impact of head coach Pete Carroll.
There are numerous explanations. Since I’ve been here, Coach Carroll has been amazing to me, according to Lock. It’s entertaining to watch how he manages this programme and this organisation. You’re eager to get to work. Your goal is to improve. In the locker room, you want to be there with your brothers. That kind of environment is something I believe is unique to some places. I had a specific place in this place.
Despite his admiration for the Seahawks’ culture, Lock just signed a one-year contract, so his long-term future with the organisation is uncertain. Following a strong performance against the Vikings that saw him throw for two touchdowns and 191 yards, he hopes to make the most of the preseason to show that he is still a viable NFL quarterback.
